It’s October and around this time of year, some of us start craving anything “pumpkin spice” flavoured! Why not make a pumpkin spice smoothie! There’s a hard way to do this, which you’re welcomed to try! Clean and carve a pumpkin, cook the flesh, purée it, and use it in your smoothie ( ). The easier alternative (yes, please!) is to find yourself a good brand of prepared pumpkin purée. Jarred versus canned is preferable, and check the ingredients to make sure that the only ingredient is pumpkin, no sugar added.
- ½ cup pumpkin purée
- 2 Medjool dates, pits removed
- ¼ of an avocado
- 1 – 2 cups “milk” of choice (e.g. almond or coconut milk; add enough to desired consistency)
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- A pinch of nutmeg
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 serving of a good, unflavoured, protein powder
- ½ cup ice cubes (optional)
Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.
Bon appétit!
